This Morning we salute our friends and colleagues at the Mass Budget and Policy Center for the rapid response analysis on the House Ways and Means budget.
Find it here. Trust me, its really really good.
Faced with a significant budget deficit for Fiscal Year 2013, the House Ways and Means Committee (HWM) proposes to balance the budget largely through cuts and other savings. There are meaningful cuts in a number of areas, including Public Health and Early Education & Care.
Meanwhile more detailed analysis is coming in from the Mass Public Health Association for instance.
The House Ways and Means budget proposal for FY13, released yesterday, would leave healthy revenue options on the table, while further cutting the Department of Public Health budget for community programs by more than $10 million. When compared to the increased costs associated with providing the current level of programs and services, the real impact of the proposed cuts are nearly $17 million.
Stay tuned for more.
